Lumbini is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the country that welcomes numerous devotees from all over the world throughout the year. The city is located on the Indo-Nepal Border and is known for being home to Lord Buddha. The place features old-age Buddha stupas that date back to more than 2000 years due to which it has been added to the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO. The name Lumbini is derived from a Sanskrit word which means ‘Lovely’. Apart from Buddha stupas, the city is home to other ancient monuments some of which are the World Pace Pagoda, Ashoka Pillar and many more. Mayadevi pond is another major attraction of this place that welcomes a huge amount of Hindu devotees.
