Sightseeing Places in Bhutan
Paro
It is a small town situated on the western side of the country that has been recognized as one of the most popular tourist sites in the country. The town boasts its beauty with majestic monasteries, stunning landscapes and numerous activities that attract tourists throughout the year. With being home to more than 155 Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples, Paro is a gem of Bhutan that also houses the only airport in the country Paro International Airport.
Punakha
Placed in the middle of Gasa, Wangdue Phodrang and Thimphu District, Punakha is home to some of the finest structures in the country one of which is Punakha Dzong. The 17th-century Dzong is one of the oldest Dzong in the country located on the junction point of Pho and Mho Rivers of Bhutan. The valley is also popular for being home to the largest suspension bridge in the country, the Punakha Suspension Bridge which stretched across 180 m in length.
Thimphu
The capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu is one of the most visited cities of the country known for its rich culture, nightlife and numerous tourist attractions sites. The city is the hub of tourism and contributes towards the economic status of the country. Home to numerous sacred sites and historic monuments the city is a perfect blend of ancient traditions and modern trends making it a perfect place for tourism.
Phuentsholing
Spread across 15.6 sq km of land, Phuentsholing is the most visited city in Bhutan known for its vibrant lifestyle, rich culture and hygiene that is admired by tourists. The city is also home to numerous tourist attractions sites including, Karbandi Monastery, Amo Chhu Crocodile Park, Amo Chhu Suspension Bridge and many more. The city is situated on the Indo-Bhutan border and does not charge SDF for tourists making it a most popular place in the country.
Phobjikha valley
With a backdrop of lush valleys, ancient monasteries and rich wildlife, Phobjikha Valley is among the most preferred destinations in the country. Also known as the Gangtey Valley, the place is situated adjacent to Jigme Wangchuck National Park due to which the alley welcomes a wide variety of bird species making it a perfect destination for bird watching.
Wangdue Phodrang
Blessed with the beauty of lush green hills, iconic monasteries, rich wildlife and rustic villages, Wangdue Phodrang is a beautiful valley of Bhutan. The site is located adjacent to the north of Jigme Dorji National Park which allows tourists to see various animal and bird species. The place is also home to one of the largest Dzongs in the country, Wangdue Phodrang Dzong.
Dochula Pass
One of the highest motorable passes in the country, Dochula Pass is one of the prominent tourist sites that attract adventure seekers and mountain bikers from all over the world. The place houses 108 memorial stupas built in memory of the Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives during the Bhutan-China War. Reaching on top the pass offers a panoramic view of the Bhutan and stunning visuals of the mighty Himalayas.
